The Future of MesoAmerica

A public art series created for The Clinton Foundation, bringing local Los Angeles Hispanic muralists work to life through augmented reality.

Dates: 2022-2023

Description:

“The Future of Meso-America" served as a call to action, crafting a narrative through our past, present, and future. Our aim was to ignite inspiration and drive in the hearts of the next generation, positioning ourselves not merely as an afterthought but as innovators and dreamers forging ahead with determination and a collective vision for a brighter, technologically empowered future. Collaborating with local muralists, We pioneered the introduction of one of the first Augmented Reality Murals in the San Fernando Valley, marking a significant milestone in our community and drawing attention to the available technology.

In addition to the mural, We developed a VR application that transported individuals to the future of Mesoamerica, allowing them to interact with plants and objects, providing a firsthand experience of the cultural aesthetic and environment. We showcased this immersive experience to students at Vanderbilt University, offering everyone a journey into this world and its story.

Throughout this series, Co-Founder Daniel Villanueva had the opportunity to engage in a conversation with Hillary Clinton. During Their dialogue, Daniel shared his vision of bringing emerging technology into underprivileged communities, emphasizing how the combination of traditional art and technology can inspire novel ideas for the mindful and creative use of technology.
